(Sports Network) - The San Jose Sharks hope to carry last month's success into April, as they begin the new page in the calendar by welcoming the Los Angeles Kings to HP Pavilion.
The Sharks were 10-2-2 in March and clinched their third straight postseason berth during the month. San Jose has 100 points and is currently sixth in the Western Conference standings.
San Jose won its second consecutive contest on Friday evening, as it defeated the visiting Phoenix Coyotes by a 4-2 count. Patrick Rissmiller scored and also added an assist to lead the Sharks.
Christian Ehrhoff, Scott Hannan and Jonathan Cheechoo also tallied, and Evgeni Nabokov finished with 25 saves for the surging Sharks, who tied a season-high with their fifth straight home victory.
San Jose, which is 23-12-3 as the host club this year, is closing out a three- game homestand this afternoon.
Sharks center Joe Thornton has registered points in 16 of his last 18 games and has 30 points (6 goals, 24 assists) during that stretch.
