Los Angeles, CA (Sports Network) - Jamie Heward's goal and assist led Los Angeles over Columbus, 5-3, at Staples Center.
Jaroslav Modry posted a pair of assists for the Kings, who have won two of three. Lubomir Visnovsky, Mike Weaver, Rob Blake and Jamie Lundmark also scored in the victory.
Mathieu Garon made 31 stops to earn the win.
Nikolai Zherdev had three assists and Geoff Platt scored twice for the Blue Jackets, losers in four of their last five. Rick Nash also tallied and Brian Boucher stopped just four-of-seven shots in his start. Fredrik Norrena stopped 11-of-13 shots in a relief loss.
Heward lit the lamp 3:14 into the game to give the Kings a 1-0 lead.
With 12:25 left in the first, LA's Dustin Brown levelled Columbus' Rostislav Klesla with a huge check with Klesla turned sideways about five feet from the boards. Alexander Svitov stuck up for his fallen teammate and was repaid with 19 minutes in penalties when he fought Brown.
