Boston, MA (Sports Network) - Bruins forward Phil Kessel, who was diagnosed with testicular cancer last month, has been recalled to Boston from its farm team in Providence, general manager Peter Chiarelli announced on Sunday.
The 19-year-old was drafted fifth overall by Boston in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft. He collected five goals and four assists in 27 games before the cancer diagnosis kept him off the ice for nearly a month.
Kessel returned to action last Friday with Providence of the American Hockey League, and accounted for the lone goal in its 2-1 loss to Manchester on Saturday.
