The Kamloops Blazers defeated the Seattle Thunderbirds 3-1 Wednesday night at ShoWare Center.
The T-Birds next game is Friday, January 23, at ShoWare Center against the Spokane Chiefs at 7:35 p.m. They take on the Portland Winter Hawks on Saturday, January 24, at 7:05 p.m. at ShoWare Center.
Kamloops (23-22-1-4) took a 1-0 lead on a power-play goal at 7:48 of the first period. Giffen Nyren and Kenton Dulle had the assists. Seattle (20-23-1-3) outshot Kamloops 13-8 in the first period.
The Blazers took a 2-0 lead at 3:10 of the second period on a goal by Cole Grbavac. Brett Lyon and Seth Compton had assists on the goal.
Shayne Wiebe put the Blazers in front 3-0 at 12:28 of the second. Stretch had the only assist on the goal.
The Blazers outshot the T-Birds 14-13 in the second period but the T-Birds led 26-22 in total shots after two periods.
Seattle got on the board late in the third period when Jeremy Boyer scored a power-play goal at 18:11 of the period. Boyer poked the puck past Kamloops goalie Justin Leclerc after a scramble in front of the Blazers net.
Seattle outshot Kamloops 19-4 in the third period and 45-26 in the game.
Seattle goalie Jacob DeSerres stopped 23 of 26 shots and his record is now 19-15-1-3.
Leclerc made 44 saves on 45 shots and his record is now 19-15-1-3.
