OSHAWA, Ont. (CP) - John Tavares scored four times and added an assist in regulation, then scored the only goal of the shootout as the Oshawa Generals defeated the Belleville Bulls 6-5 in Ontario Hockey League action Sunday.

Tavares, who now leads the league with 39 goals, beat Belleville goalie Mike Murphy high to the glove side to decide the game. In regulation, he scored twice on the power play and once short-handed.

Cal Clutterbuck also scored for the Generals (19-16-0-3), while Brett MacLean earned three assists.

OHL points leader Tyler Donati led the Bulls with two goals and an assist, all on the power play, where the Bulls were 4-of-12.

Bryan Cameron, Stephen Blunden and Matt Beleskey each scored once for Belleville.
