SEATTLE (CP) - Jesse Smyke scored the game-winning goal in the 12th round of a shootout to pace the Everett Silvertips to a 5-4 win over the Seattle Thunderbirds.
Smyke was the fourth player for Everett to score in the tiebreaker, which Everett won four goals to three. Jan Eberle scored a hat trick for Seattle, including a goal with only 1:09 left in regulation to tie the game at 4 and send it into overtime. Rookie Kyle Beach scored his 19th goal of the season and added an assist.
Beach, who also assisted on Everett's first goal of the game, broke a 3-3 tie with a power play goal 34 seconds into the third period.
Gendur scored for Everett only seven seconds into the game, the fastest goal to start a game in Everett franchise history.
Jason Fransoo also had a goal for Everett and Radek Meidl had one for Seattle.
The loss drops Seattle to 0-9 in shootouts this season.
