The Nashville Predators arrived in the NHL in 1998-99. The Predators ended their debut season second-to-last in the Western Conference with a 28-47-7 record. In their sixth season as a franchise, they earned their first trip to the playoffs.

The Canadiens and Predators first squared off on December 12, 1998 in Nashville. The games ended in a 2-2 tie.

Kovy ailing; Price, Koivu not skating

by Dave Stubbs

Alex Kovalev is not at today's practice in Brossard, home sick as the media have been told. Captain Saku Koivu and goalie Carey Price are not skating, both rehabbing ankle injuries. Georges Laraque, Mathieu Dandenault and Christopher Higgins skated before the team's workout.

And the Canadiens today have returned defenceman Yannick Weber to the Hamilton Bulldogs. From the Habs release: Weber was called up from the Bulldogs on Jan. 1. At the time, he led Bulldogs defencemen in scoring with 18 points (8 goals, 10 assists) and five power-play tallies. The 20-year-old played his first NHL game on Jan. 7, helping the Canadiens to a 6-2 win over the Maple Leafs. Weber was held scoreless in that game, and registered two shots on goal in 15 minutes of ice-time.

3-2 win. We're doing quite well without some of our key guys!
