LETHBRIDGE, Alta. (CP) - Jacob Dietrich scored as the 11th shooter and the Lethbridge Hurricanes beat the Red Deer Rebels 3-2 in a shootout win in Western Hockey League action Sunday night.
Brandon Sutter and Evan Pighin had scored for the Rebels in the shootout, while the Hurricanes countered with goals by Zach Boychuk and Carter Bancks before Dietrich ended the longest shootout of the season.
Lethbridge (18-16-2-2) got goals from Dwight King and Yashar Farmanara in regulation time as they rallied from a 2-1 third-period deficit to force overtime.
Red Deer's Brett Sutter scored both Rebel goals but his club surrendered a third-period lead for just the second time all season.
