(Sports Network) - A pair of struggling teams meet this evening in Carolina, as the Hurricanes welcome the New York Islanders to the RBC Center.

The Islanders have the more serious losing streak of the two teams, having dropped five straight contests. They were in action Thursday evening in New Jersey and handed a 4-3 setback.

Zach Parise scored twice and Martin Brodeur made 40 saves to lift the Devils past New York at Continental Airlines Arena.

Rick DiPietro allowed four goals on 26 shots for the Islanders, while Trent Hunter and Andy Hilbert both notched a goal in the losing effort. Mike Sillinger added a late power-play tally for the Isles.

New York, which is 8-10-1 as the visitor this year, continues its current four-game road trip tonight.

Meanwhile, the Hurricanes have dropped three consecutive contests, including Thursday's 2-0 loss to visiting Phoenix. Curtis Joseph stopped 29 shots as the Coyotes toppled Carolina.
