(Sports Network) - The Montreal Canadiens begin a three-game homestand at the Bell Centre this afternoon, when they welcome the New York Islanders to town.

The Canadiens are coming off Thursday's shootout loss in Pittsburgh. Evgeni Malkin scored the game-winning tally in the 5-4 decision for the red-hot Penguins.

Radek Bonk tallied twice for the Canadiens, who have lost two of their last three. Mike Johnson had a goal and an assist, Mathieu Dandenault also scored, and Sergei Samsonov added a pair of assists. David Aebischer blocked 29-of-33 shots in goal.

The Habs, who are 16-7-3 on home ice this year, will host the Penguins on Sunday afternoon in the middle test of the stand.

Montreal currently has 62 points and is tied for fourth in the Eastern Conference standings with Ottawa.

The Islanders were in action Thursday in Atlanta and came away with a 5-2 victory. Viktor Kozlov had two goals and an assist to help New York earn the triumph at Philips Arena.

Miroslav Satan had a goal and two assists and Mike Dunham stopped 30 shots in the win for the Islanders, who have won two of their last three games.
