If you hadn't posted, I wouldn't have noticed this.

My daughter LOVES Sham-Wow.

Picture, if you will, a 4 year old girl asking for a Sham-Wow for Christmas. Then again, she also wanted a Slap Chop and Ab Rocker. Just one of the myriad reasons I'm glad we got rid of cable/sat in our house. Before that, I was just waiting for her to request a P90X system.

Lol, daryl that is awesome. Simply the prefect example of why Quebec banned commercials targeting children. So why no oxyclean?

Yeah, she wasn't into Oxy Clean, but she did want:

Was out at the Dollarama with her one time, and came across a toy version of one of these things, and that was it. She knew what she wanted.

And NOW, even a year-and-a-half later, she heard me finding the ad on youtube, just now, and came running:

Her: Swiffer!!! Baby come back!!!
Me: Yeah.
Her: See why I wanted one? This is great!

When that song comes on in the car, she gets excited, which is a reason we just use the ipod in the car now. We seriously have tried to reduce ads directed towards all of us to the absolute minimum.

After all of this time without tv ads blaring at us, if we pass a Subway, she doesn't ask if we can eat there, she wants to "eat fresh". I don't like that, and I don't miss paying $110/mo to have commercials directed at me. The last time I watched TV with my father in-law, at his place, I couldn't stand it; I literally couldn't figure out why I found it alright to sit and watch shows in such a way before. And, of course, it's because it's just the way it always was. Yes, we'd had a PVR for a few years, but if you want to watch live tv, you're stuck with ads. I don't miss it at all.

I hadn't heard about the change in Quebec, but it's a good one.

I agree with you fully, ads ruin television more then television does, as for the law in Quebec its an older one, I don't know if it is still in place but it lead to pretty much the end of children's programing in the province since if you can't advertise to children no one wants the ad space in children's shows. As the sad reality of commercialization seeps through. I mean the simple fact that subway makes your daughter go "eat fresh" whenever she sees it actually depicts brainwashing. Its scary.

Well, it IS in the off-topic area...

As for the Shaman in WoW: I couldn't tell you. I absolutely REFUSE to pay for a game just so I can have a monthly payment.

Daryl
Its cheaper to pay for WoW for six months then its is to go to 6 movies.

This thread should be in the Video Gaming forum though, not the lounge game forum.

Oh, I know exactly what you're saying. With almost 12 million monthly subscribers, we know that plenty of people find value in WoW.

It's me. I think 6 movies in 6 months is also way too expensive.

;)
