(Sports Network) - The Carolina Hurricanes will aim for their sixth consecutive victory this evening, when they visit the mighty Buffalo Sabres at HSBC Arena.
The Hurricanes picked up the last two triumphs in the current streak in a sweep of a home-and-home series with Florida. They earned an overtime win in Sunrise on Saturday before returning home for Tuesday's 4-2 win at the RBC Center.
On Tuesday, Cam Ward made 25 saves and Eric Staal recorded two assists as the Hurricanes downed Florida.
Justin Williams, Rod Brind'Amour, Scott Walker and Cory Stillman all tallied for the Hurricanes. Williams is in the midst of an eight-game point-scoring stretch and has seven goals and two assists during the tear.
Another win tonight would give Carolina its longest winning streak since posting nine consecutive W's from December 31-Janaury 19 of last season.
The Hurricanes are 10-9-3 as the visitor this season.
Buffalo, which is first in the Eastern Conference and second in the NHL with 55 points, is coming off Tuesday's win over the Washington Capitals. Chris Drury had two goals and a pair of assists as the Sabres stormed out of the gates and held on to drop the visiting Caps, 6-3.
Ales Kotalik donated a goal and two assists while Ryan Miller turned away 23 shots for the Sabres, who have won two of their last three contests.
