The Erie Otters of the Ontario Hockey League announced today that they have traded Andrew Hotham and a fourth round pick in the 2009 OHL Priority Selection to the Saginaw Spirit in exchange for Jordan Skellett, a third round pick and a fifth round pick in the 2009 OHL Priority Selection.
Skellett, who was acquired by the Spirit in a separate deal involving the Mississauga IceDogs finalized this morning, is a 17 year-old forward in his second OHL season.
In 29 games this season the 5-11 left winger has registered five goals and six assists for 11 points. Overall, Skellett, who was originally selected 17th overall by the IceDogs in the 2005 OHL Priority Selection, has collected eight goals and 12 assists for 20 points in 67 career OHL games.
Hotham spent parts of three seasons with the Otters. The overage defenseman totaled 26 goals and 69 assists for 95 points in 138 games.
The Otters (9-27-0-2) return to action Friday night when they travel to Mississauga to take on the IceDogs in a 7:30 p.m. start at the Hershey Centre. The game can be heard live on 1330 Erie's ESPN Radio and on line at Welcome | Erie Otters (presented by the James H. Cross Company) beginning with the pre-game show at 7:15 p.m.
The next Otters home game takes place Saturday (January 6th) when the Sarnia Sting visit the Tullio Arena in a 7:30 p.m. start presented by Cellular-One. It's also JetRadio 1400 Coats for Kids Night. Donate a reusable coat and receive a pair of tickets to the Otters game on January 24th. Limit one pair of tickets per person. Tickets for the game are available at all Erie-area TicketMaster locations as well as the Erie Civic Center Box Office.
