(Sports Network) - The Atlanta Thrashers will try to extend their four-game winning streak this evening when they kick off a road trip against the Pittsburgh Penguins.

The Thrashers notched their fourth stretch this season with four straight victories or more by defeating the Tampa Bay Lightning on Tuesday night. Jim Slater scored with just 8.1 seconds left in the game to lead Atlanta to the 2-1 triumph at Philips Arena.

With time winding down in the contest, Bobby Holik flicked a shot on net that Slater re-directed past Johan Holmqvist. The play was reviewed to determine if Slater's stick was above the crossbar, but the goal was allowed to stand.

Slava Kozlov scored the other Atlanta goal and Kari Lehtonen stopped 24 shots for the Thrashers, who can match their season-high winning streak with another victory tonight. Atlanta had won five in a row from November 23-December 5.

Tonight marks the first of four straight on the road for the Thrashers, who are an impressive 11-5-3 as the visitor this season.

The Penguins, meanwhile, hope to halt a four-game slide this evening.
