(Sports Network) - After the circus forced the Bruins to open the season with five consecutive road games, the team had a six-game homestand to look forward to. Boston began the set with a 3-2 win over Calgary on October 19, but proceeded to lose three of the next four tilts.
On Thursday the B's dropped a 5-4 shootout affair to Buffalo, as Ales Kotalik's goal with 1:35 left in the third period tied the game, and then his goal in the shootout proved to be the difference.
Marc Savard had a goal and two assists for the Bruins, who failed in their attempt to win consecutive games for the first time this season.
P.J. Axelsson added a goal and an assist, while Tim Thomas stopped 29 shots for Boston. Glen Murray and Mark Mowers also tallied in the loss.
