I've got a new pair of skates and am finding that they are not as stable in a straight line as my old blades. As well, I can't do a T stop in them, for the outer edge of the blade bites far too aggressively into the ice rather than slide. I know dull skates make T stops easy, but I'm assuming that the hollow from the factory, which is probably half an inch, has something to do with it. I would like to hear from others who have had similar experiences and if different hollowings (5/8" and 3/4") have alleviated the problems of instability and stopping on the outer edge of a blade.

Hi, CentreForward, and welcome to the site!

I haven't been on skates in more than 30 years so I won't be very helpful here. I hope others see this post and comment (though it is kinda slow around here right now). Just wanted to say 'hi'.
