Carter Hutton of Thunder Bay, Ont., a freshman goaltender at UMass-Lowell, was Hockey East defensive player of the week. In the first start of his collegiate career, Hutton made 38 saves to preserve a 3-3 tie on the road against Minnesota-Duluth.
Maine junior forward Wes Clark of Oakville scored three goals in 7-1 and 6-3 victories over Bemidji State. Black Bears freshman Teddy Purcell of St. John's scored twice in Saturday's 6-3 win to give him three goals in as many games.
