(Sports Network) - The Columbus Blue Jackets will shoot for their fifth consecutive victory this evening, as they visit the Dallas Stars at American Airlines Center.

The Blue Jackets are in the midst of their longest winning streak since taking six in a row from March 24-April 3 of last season. They earned a 6-2 victory over the visiting Ottawa Senators on Sunday evening as Rick Nash and Dan Fritsche each netted a pair of goals to lead the way at Nationwide Arena.

Ron Hainsey added a goal and two assists for Columbus.

Sunday's win improved Columbus' record to 5-3-0 since Ken Hitchcock was hired to permanently replace the fired Gerard Gallant late last month. Tonight, Hitchcock will lead the Blue Jackets against the team that he led to a Stanley Cup championship in 1999. "Hitch" coached in Dallas from 1996-2002.

The Stars have been hot so far in December, going 4-1-0 in the early stages of the month. They picked up a dramatic victory on Saturday night in Phoenix, as Jere Lehtinen's dazzling goal with 4.6 seconds left in overtime lifted Dallas past the Coyotes, 4-3.
