(Sports Network) - The Philadelphia Flyers will once again try to end the longest losing streak in franchise history, as they visit the Florida Panthers tonight at BankAtlantic Center.

The Flyers have dropped nine straight contests to break the club's previous mark of six defeats in a row.

The latest setback came Saturday afternoon against visiting Ottawa, as Daniel Alfredsson scored two third-period goals to lead the Senators to the 6-3 win.

Ben Eager, Jeff Carter and Kyle Calder scored for the Flyers, while Antero Niittymaki made 36 saves in defeat.

Flyers captain Peter Forsberg missed his third straight game because of a concussion. Forsberg is also expected to sit out tonight's contest, but could be ready to play in Carolina on New Year's Eve.

Philadelphia, which is last in the NHL with 20 points, hasn't won since November 30 and the last eight losses in the skid have come in regulation.

The Flyers are kicking off a season-long eight-game road trip tonight. Philadelphia is just 5-12-0 as the visiting club this season.
