Detroit, MI (Sports Network) - Dominik Hasek stopped all 23 shots he faced for his sixth shutout of the season to help the Detroit Red Wings to a 2-0 victory over the Montreal Canadiens at Joe Louis Arena.

Pavel Datsyuk and Jiri Hudler each had a goal for the Red Wings, who have won their last four games.

David Aebischer made 37 saves for the Canadiens, who have dropped two straight and five of their last seven games.

The Red Wings notched the only goal of the first period when Hudler blasted a shot from the left circle past the glove of Aebischer at the 9:18 mark.

Detroit limited Montreal to just seven shots in the first period, all of which Hasek turned aside.

Neither team got on the scoreboard in the middle stanza. Despite Montreal having three power plays in the frame, Detroit still outshot the Habs, 9-7.

The Red Wings gave themselves some breathing room late in the third period when Pavel Datsyuk snapped a wrist shot from a sharp angle on the right side that got by Aebischer with 5:19 left in the game.

For all the fan fair for original 6 teams to play each other, I gotta tell ya, this one was really, really boring!!

The fans who were there, weren't even into it!!

It is defiantly not a game for selling original 6 teams to play each other!!

The problem there being that the game was played in Detroit, so how does it make sense that the Habs would have woken up and started to play? At any rate, all I was able to watch of the game were the highlights. I must say, the highlights actually made it seem like a very good game, and I was disappointed that I missed it. But if it was as boring as you guys make it seem, then maybe I don't care so much.
