(Sports Network) - The Vancouver Canucks will try to continue their recent surge tonight, when they visit the Montreal Canadiens at the Bell Centre.

The Canucks have won eight of their last nine games and are closing in on the top spot in the competitive Northwest Division. Calgary leads the division with 52 points and Vancouver is just one point behind, tied for second place with Minnesota.

Vancouver began a four-game road trip in excellent form Saturday night, as it pounded the Toronto Maple Leafs, 6-1, at Air Canada Centre. Daniel Sedin had a four-point night, posting a goal and three assists to lead the Canucks to the easy triumph.

Markus Naslund had a goal and an assist, Henrik Sedin had three helpers and Roberto Luongo finished with 34 saves for the Canucks, who scored five goals on the power play and fell one short of tying the club record for tallies in a game with the man advantage.

The Canucks, who are 10-11-1 as the road team this season, will continue their swing Thursday in Ottawa.
