(Sports Network) - The Montreal Canadiens kick off a four-game road trip on Saturday in Toronto. They enter the set having won three of their last four games, but so far have been unable to string together more than two wins in a row this season.

On Thursday, Alexei Kovalev tallied the decisive goal in the shootout to lift the Canadiens to a 3-2 victory over the Edmonton Oilers.

With each team scoring a goal in the shootout, Fernando Pisani missed the net for Edmonton as the puck slid off his stick failing to give the Oilers the lead. Kovalev then raced in on goal and on his forehand, tucked the puck just inside the left post past the outstretched pads of Dwayne Roloson.

Jarret Stoll of the Oilers then had a chance to keep the shootout going, but Habs netminder David Aebischer closed his five hole up as Stoll's snap shot was stopped to give the Habs the extra point.
