(Sports Network) - The Carolina Hurricanes try to post their second three-game winning streak of the season tonight when they welcome the Montreal Canadiens to the RBC Center.

On Wednesday, Rod Brind'Amour and Ray Whitney each tallied two goals and two assists as the Hurricanes notched a 5-2 victory over first-place Atlanta at Philips Arena.

Scott Walker scored the other goal and Erik Cole and Justin Williams each added two assists for the Hurricanes, who have beaten Atlanta in all three meetings so far this season.

Cam Ward made 40 saves for Carolina, which has won three of its last four contests overall.

The defending-champion Hurricanes drew within five points of the Thrashers in the Southeast Division race.

Carolina will visit Ottawa on Saturday.

Montreal, meanwhile, has rotated losses and wins in the eight contests since their lone winning streak of the season. On Tuesday, David Aebischer stopped 31 shots for his fourth win of the season as the Canadiens defeated the Senators, 4-2, at the Bell Centre.

Chris Higgins, Alexei Kovalev, Andrei Markov, and Steve Begin tallied for Montreal.
