MONTREAL (AP) -Former Montreal Canadiens star Guy Lafleur's 22-year-old son was charged Thursday with sexual assault involving a minor.
Mark Lafleur was charged with sexual assault, assault with a weapon, uttering threats and false imprisonment. A bail hearing is scheduled for Monday.
"They're devastated," Lafleur's lawyer, Jean-Pierre Rancourt, said of his client's famous hockey family.
Rancourt said the younger Lafleur has Tourette's syndrome.
"I'm going to let the judge know Monday that my client needs psychiatric and physical treatment for his illness, Tourette syndrome, and probably a drug addiction," Rancourt said.
Rancourt said Lafleur would enter a detox program Friday and that he has his family's support.
"Evidently, he will have the support of his devastated parents," the lawyer told reporters. "They're supported him for a long time and that will continue so that he gets the help he needs."
