VANCOUVER (CP) - The goals are not coming easy for the Vancouver Canucks.

Mike Grier scored on the power play and goaltender Vesa Toskala stopped 25 shots as the San Jose Sharks defeated the Canucks 2-0 in NHL exhibition play Tuesday night.

Ville Nieminen added an empty-net goal late in the game.
Grier's goal came with just 56 seconds left in the first period and defenceman Kevin Bieksa off for hooking.

Marcel Goc started the play with a shot that goaltender Roberto Luongo blocked. Grier, a former Buffalo Sabre who signed with San Jose as a free agent, knocked the rebound in.

Tiem will tell if Vancouver if much better than they were last year. Luongo was great, but they have to score. Losing some of their offence will hurt, and the defence isn't as good as it was last season IMO.
