The first three years of the existence of the St. Louis Blues franchise were probably the best an expansion team could have.

Under the tuteledge of hockey buddha Scotty Bowman, the Blues, lead by the goaltending mastery of Glenn Hall and Jacques Plante, made the Stanley Cup Finals those first three years, bowing out twice to Montreal, and once to the Bruins (and that classic image of Bobby Orr flying to score the game winning goal).
