(CP) - Goaltender Martin Biron has accepted his $2.1-million US, one-year qualifying offer from the Buffalo Sabres, but he still hopes the club will trade him before training camp.

Restricted free agents have until Saturday at 5 p.m. ET to accept their one-year qualifying offers. Biron, who will an unrestricted free agent next July 1, officially asked for a trade after the season, hoping to become a starter on another club after playing backup to Ryan Miller this season. The 28-year-old Biron finished last season with a 2.89 goals-against average and a 21-8 record, including a 13-game winning streak from Nov. 15 to Dec. 17.

The Phoenix Coyotes, meanwhile, re-signed defenceman Dennis Seidenberg and forward Fredrik Sjostrom to two-year contracts.

Seidenberg signed a deal worth $1.6 million over two years. The 25-year-old established career highs for games played (63), assists (15) and points (18) last season while playing for Philadelphia and Phoenix. He was acquired for Petr Nedved on Jan. 19.

Sjostrom, 23, had 23 points (6-17) in 75 games with the Coyotes last season, his second in the NHL.
