SWIFT CURRENT, Sask. (CP) - Moose Jaw centre Steven Gillen had a big night, scoring four times and adding three assists in the Warriors' 9-6 Western Hockey League win over the Swift Current Broncos on Sunday.
With the game tied 6-6 after two periods, Gillen set up the eventual winning goal with 8:21 left to play and he added his 18th and 19th goals of the season as insurance goals in the wide-open offensive contest.
Moose Jaw also had a pair of goals from Brad Riege, and singles from Jason Reese, Martin Grundling, and defenceman Jock Sutter with his first career WHL goal. Defenceman Cody Thoring added five assists.
Swift Current was led by a one goal, three assist performance from defenceman Eric Doyle. The Broncos also had goals from Daniel Rakos, Zack Smith, Michael Wilson, Brady Leavold and Jeremy Schenderling.
Warriors goaltender Joey Perricone stopped 24 of 30 shots to collect his 14th win of the season.
Broncos starting goaltender Travis Yonkman, who played 16:37 of the first period but returned to finish the game, yielded six goals on 27 shots while taking the loss. Kyle Moir, who appeared in 3:23 of the first period and 15:46 of the middle period, made four saves on seven shots during his relief stint in goal.
