The Vancouver Giants congratulate defenceman CODY FRANSON and forward KENNDAL MCARDLE on being named to Hockey Canada's World Junior Team. The team was announced earlier today and both members of the Giants organization are set to take part in their first World Junior Championships.

Franson currently leads the Giants in scoring with 11 goals and 25 assists. McArdle, acquired earlier this month in a trade from the Moose Jaw Warriors, has 11 goals and 13 assists on the season.

Giants defenceman BRENDAN MIKKELSON was one of the last players released from the selection camp this morning. He will be returning to the Giants line-up this weekend.

In all, seven players from the Western Hockey League have been named to the Canadian squad (two goalies, three defencemen, and two forwards). Canada will open up the World Junior Championships on Boxing Day against the host team from Sweden. For a complete roster, check out www.HockeyCanada.ca.
