I don't want to start too many threads of the same thing, so I'll just put this in here:
Gameday #29: Toronto Maple Leafs vs. Atlanta Thrashers
The Maple Leafs, losers of 5 of their last 7 games, look to try and get going again as they once more host the red hot Atlanta Thrashers, winners of 5 straight games. (7:30PMET Start).
Toronto previously found themselves winning of 6 of their last 7 games before what has been inconsistent times for the Leafs once again. Most recently a 4-3 Shootout loss to the Montreal Canadiens, where they blew a 2 goal lead and could only watch as Montreal fought their way to a 6-game winning streak, that was ended by the surging Boston Bruins last night.

Ian White, Mats Sundin, and Kyle Wellwood scored the 3 goals for Toronto, and Andrew Raycroft stopped 19 of 22 shots on goal in the losing effort, as early into the season the Leafs suddenly finds themselves in a situation that might have them on the outside looking in when it comes to the playoff picture.
With a 13-10-5 records, the Leafs are currently 6th in the Eastern Conference with 31 Points. The Ottawa Senators, who seem to have finally found their stride once more, trail the team by just 2 points and hold 1 game in hand, while, the Tampa Bay
Lightning, Washington Capitals, and the surging Boston Bruins, trail by 3, with all teams havng at least 1 game in hand. The 13th place Pittsburgh Penguins trail the Leafs by 5 points, but hold 3 games in hand.
Once again, Toronto failed to win in the shootout, an aspect of the game that they can't seem to make much progress on.
Despite the result of last Saturday's game however, Head Coach Paul Maurice still insists that the Leafs are not doing as badly as some may seem to think, and Captain Mats Sundin agrees:
Andrew Raycroft has a 2.88 Goals Against Average and a .901 Save Percentage through Games 22 Games, while Darcy Tucker continues to lead the team in Goals with 16 28 Games played (11 on the Powerplay). Tucker is also tied with defenceman Tomas Kaberle in points with 25.
Atlanta has cooled down for the most part since their blistering start to the season, but are starting to heat up again and are still in the hunt for 1st in the East with the Buffalo Sabres, trailing the team by 4 Points. Their last game was a 3-1 win over the struggling Florida Panthers.
The Thrashers hadhanded Toronto a 6-0 drubbing in Atlanta last week, as once again a team exposed what has been Toronto's weak spot for the last few years: Defence.
The win was the first over the Leafs in 8 tries, dating back to November of 2003.
Marian Hossa leads the team and league with 20 goals in just 28 games, and is right behind Jaromir Jagr's 40 points for the league lead, with 39.
Goaltender Kari Lehtonen has a 2.70 Goals Against Average and a .909 Save Percentage after playing 23 games.
The Thrashers are 17-7-4 after 28 Games.
