Gameday #15: Toronto Maple Leafs @ Florida Panthers

458 Views 2 Replies 2 Participants Last post by  BE-LEAF-ABLE
After a win over the Tampa Bay Lightning on a 3rd period goal by Ian White, the Leafs visit Florida to take on the Panthers.

Toronto will be facing future Hall-Of-Famer and former Maple Leafs goaltender, Ed Belfour in nets tonight. Whether Aubin or Raycroft will get the start tonight is uncertain. The Leafs are playing their 2nd of 3 games in 4 nights (next game in Buffalo on Saturday), and Maurice may want to rest Raycroft for the red hot Sabres. On the other hand, Raycroft seems to be regaining the form that he started the season with, having solid performances versus the Thrashers and Tampa Bay (Stopping 54 of 58 shots).

Leafs face Belfour in Florida

The Leafs, after starting the season on a win/lose/win/lose streak, now aim for their 4th straight victory.

Florida will be without Todd Bertuzzi, who is out for 6-8 weeks after having back surgery to repair a herniated disc.

Matt Stajan is on pace for a career year, with 10 points in 14 games played so far (4G, 6A).

Tomas Kaberle is coming off of 5 goals in 3 games, and also notching his 300th point.

Hal Gill also reached a career milestone, with his 100th career point.

Florida has lost 5 of their last 6 games.

Olli Jokinen leads the Panthers in Goals (5), Assists (8) and points (13), while Goalie Ed Belfour is currently posting a .900 Save Percentage, and 3.01 Goals against Average.

Toronto is 7-4-3 in their first 14 games.

Florida is 5-7-2 in their first 12.

Raycroft has a .899 Save Percentage and a 3.03 Goals Against Average.

The team sure is hot right now and Florida looks like a beatable team. I think it might be a good idea to give the start to Aubin and rest Raycroft for Buffalo on Saturday.

I'm not unhappy that Bertuzzi isn't in the lineup tonight but it sucks that he's going to be out so long.

Should be a good game, I hope that Kabby keeps kicking butt he's killing in my fantasy league right now!
He got 2 assists, but it wasn't enough. The Leafs lost 4-2, and were outshot 43-25.

Didn't see the game, but it doesn't sound like it was a good one from the Leafs at all.
