BOSTON (AP) -- Boston Bruins forward Tom Fitzgerald, a veteran of 17 NHL seasons and seven teams, announced his retirement Tuesday.
A 38-year-old native of suburban Billerica, Fitzgerald was the 17th overall pick of the New York Islanders in 1986. He played two seasons at Providence College and played his first full NHL season in 1992-93 with the Islanders before going to the Florida Panthers, Colorado Avalanche, Nashville Predators, Chicago Blackhawks, Toronto Maple Leafs and hometown Bruins.
