The St. John's Fog Devils brought a little holiday cheer to patients at the Janeway Children's Health and Rehabilitation Centre this week.

Local players Patrick O'Keefe, Ryan Graham, Wes Welcher, Matt Boland, Paul Roebothan, Devin O'Brien and Kenny Pennell along with team mascot, Scorch, signed autographs and delivered gifts to children who will be spending the holiday season in the hospital this year.

Fog Devils' President, Brad Dobbin, said the special hospital visit was part of the organization's commitment to brighten the lives of kids in the community

"This is something we can plan to make an annual tradition", he said. "Christmas is all about giving and we hope that by giving a little of our time today that we helped lift the spirits of these kids. This is a very difficult time of the year to be in the hospital and this visit was all about making them smile and to create a positive experience." Carrying bags of Fog Devils goodies, the players visited the playroom and various wards Wednesday morning. The children's faces lit up when they go the opportunity to meet Scorch and their local hockey heroes.

Patrick O'Keefe, the Fog Devils second-year defenceman, said the real heroes are the children. He said the team was particularly touched by a boy from Glovertown named Michael Feltham.

"He was hooked up to all the machines, but he was so excited to meet us," he said. "It was an awesome feeling. He is a big hockey fan and one of these days I hope he is well enough to come and see a game here in St. John's.: The Fog Devils currently is in its Christmas break and sport a 15-20-1-1 record. The club has won 5 of its last 6.

The Fog Devils next home series is Friday, December 29th and Saturday, December 30th against the Halifax Mooseheads. The St. John's Fog Devils are a member of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League and are one of 59 member clubs of the Canadian Hockey League.
