(Sports Network) - The Philadelphia Flyers have earned the title of the worst team in the NHL this season, but occasionally bad luck does factor into the equation.
For example, the Flyers' last five games have each been decided by one goal and Philly's record in those tests is 1-1-3. In the last two weeks, the club has been dealt three overtime or shootout losses, doubling the amount of OT setbacks it has for the entire season.
Philadelphia turned in one of its best performances of the year against visiting Tampa Bay last Tuesday, but in the Flyers wound up blowing a third- period lead before succumbing in the shootout.
Just two nights after the Lightning game, Philadelphia scored three goals in the third period against the Devils and still were handed a loss. It did look like the Flyers were going to win that one until they allowed New Jersey to score with 32 seconds left in regulation. Of course, the Devs added a goal in overtime to continue the Flyers' frustration.
