how do you figure? because we lost 2 in a row? the whole team played terrible both games, no one was skating, and i'm not concerned about the Flames at all, i still think they are one of the teams to beat. Once the 2nd line comes back they'll be back on top.they gonna blow it in the playoffs for sure

The new rumor is that Sutter could be new head coach if Keenan doesn't turn it around soon! After almost blowing another big lead Keenan was pulled into Sutters office, later reports Keenan seemed to be shaken and did not want to talk to media.Wow, just think Sutter behind the bench again is every Flames fan wet dream. Will it happen; I guess for the most part not, Sutter gave that job up for a reason.

its been three games...Playing great and still getting shut down for most of the night says something about how good they really are.
Badat's just pissy because his team has sucked for over three years now. Greaser fans are all the same they keep looking to the glory days of the 80's and they know deep down inside the Oilers don't stand a chance in today's NHL
Even the Oilers organization itself keeps looking at yesterdays teams. Oilers and it's fans are living in the past the can't get by how much the team really sucks.

What a contradiction your whole post is. Oilers fans cant compete in today's NHL? The Flames have a great team this year, and Olli has been great for them so far. But its not as though they've accomplished more in recent history. Making the playoffs just to get bounced isn't really an accomplishment in my opinion.
Although, this year could change all that. I stand by my opinion that the Flames have as good a shot as anyone outside of the Wings, Sharks and Boston at getting the cup. And those 3 teams haven't been the most steady in the recent stretch.

1st of all declaring you're team is a major conteneder in the middle of summer is a terrible idea, that put an incredible amount of pressure on Gagner and Cogliano which they obviously couldn't handle. Because of this they lost ground on which they could have been further developing.I'm not sure what to think about Oilers management. Then there's the whole making offers to other teams RA's was boneheaded, the result was having to overpay Penner. Instead of owning up to this mistake Penner takes the blame for not earning his contract.
3rd their AHL team is a mess, I know they do moderately well in the standings; they also have one of the oldest teams in the AHL. I guess management’s priority is having a good AHL team which earns money but is full of old players who will never make their roster than having a young team that produces good players. Yes there have been NHLrs coming out of Grand Rapids but all that did probably would have if they were playing on any other AHL team.
None of these areas are much concern for the Flames. The only time Sutter ever mentioned anything about where he thinks his team should be was at the trade deadline. He mentioned he's putting alot of emphasis on this year; there's no reason he shouldn't have, they'll probably finnish 3rd in the west and up until them they had proven themselves as a contender. (note: this is compleatly different to Oilers management's expectation of their team last offseason)
Contract wise Sutter's done a better job than the Oilers but he hasn't been amazing either. He's made it obvious what his core of players are; Iginla, Phaneuf, Regehr, Langkow and Kiprusoff. He's currently got all 5 signed long term for fair market value.
The Flames AHL team has really improved since Sutter took over, I believe it is one of the youngest teams in the AHL and has converted a good number of late draft picks into NHL ready players. The problem is they struggle to stay above .500 every year and as a result they've been forced to jump from town to town trying to find a city a medeocre team can profit in. This really helped in the Flames deling for Jokinen because they could trade depth players away and still have players who could fill their roles.
And that is the 3 reasons why I think the Flames have a much better run oganisation.

Most major sports writers thought the Oilers were a contender in the offseason, many had them winning the NW. In classic Oiler fashion, they underachieved. In recent history, they Oil either underachieve, or on the rare occasion overachieve. I'm not surprised by this at all. I told everyone I didn't agree with hyping the Oilers so much seeing as how they lost all of their grit.
I do agree the Oilers aren't the greatest on contracts, although I think Rolli has earned his paycheck this season. Lowe was put in a position where he had to sign someone, and ended up overpaying for Penner. The contract was too big for Penners shoulders, and he crumbled. Fault there lies with Lowe, Penner, and Mac T for not handling Penner correctly. Hemsky is locked in on a beautiful contract, and with Souray staying healthy, his contract doess't look to bad to me anymore either. With any team we have our good signings and our bad, I just think we are over the average when it comes to bad contracts, or losing players for nothing in the offseason.
