The new rumor is that Sutter could be new head coach if Keenan doesn't turn it around soon! After almost blowing another big lead Keenan was pulled into Sutters office, later reports Keenan seemed to be shaken and did not want to talk to media.Wow, just think Sutter behind the bench again is every Flames fan wet dream. Will it happen; I guess for the most part not, Sutter gave that job up for a reason.

I've been hearing alot of very serious rumours since the start of the season, that the teams loosing respect for Keenan. I think the two resolutions for this case are either Sutter takes over or he hires Tortorella. I'd think the most likely is Daryl coaches this season then hires someone like Torts next year.

Somewhere down the road I'd like to see Playfair get another crack at head coach, he's had a taste and now he's had alot of time to think about how to better himself.
Is Cammalleri on the block?

Rumour is Sutter may be looking for someone to fit more into the rugged scheme. Seems a little F up, but if they are far apart on the value of a new contract, it's better to trade now as opposed to later. If they do this later in the season you get less in return, and if it goes until the Summer you get nothing at all....

Who could we trade for if we threw Aucoin into the deal with Cammalleri?

I'n the end I always knew that Cammy wouldn't stay anyways.

Oh well I'n Sutter we trust....

I was thinking Kovalchuk. We aren't going to re-sign Cammalleri anyways, and it looks like Kovalchuk won't be in Atlanta much longer, so maybe we could dump Aucoins salary and Cammalleri for Kovalchuk. We probably won't be able to re-sgn Kovalchuk at the end of the season either, but I think he would be a good fit in Calgary.
Could The Flames Be Shopping Aucoin

Unconfirmed and unverified reports are currently stating that The Calgary Flames are apparently shopping veteran defenseman Adrian Aucoin around the league.

Aucoin, who is making $4 million this year is set to become an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season.

A native of Ottawa, Ontario, Aucoin has 3 goals and 4 assists in 21 games with the Flames this season. Aucoin has played 791 games for the Vancouver Canucks, New York Islanders, Chicago Blackhawks and Flames. during this time, he has accumulated 101 goals and 208 assists for 309 points, accompanied by 595 penalty minutes.

The trade rumor has been reported by the Ottawa Sun.

There are a few possible reasons for the Flames to seek to trade Aucoin: Predominantly, they could be looking to free up some salary, or GM Darryl Sutter coulod be working to ensure that he receives a replacement for the defenseman. Additionally, Rhett Warrener -- sidelined since the pre-season -- may possibly be ready to return and may have found favour with the coaching and management staff. Possible also, Sutter may be preparing to pull the trigger on a deal, and is looking to free up some room for an incoming player. Finally, with Mike Cammalleri also due to be a free agent at the end of the season, Sutter may be working on finding a way to sign the feisty, diminutive forward to an extended contract. Cammalleri is currently second in scoring on the Calgary Flames with 16 points.

start here today...

Trade freeze still in affect, but in many ways the trade freeze is an interesting time. A time when teams can talk without fear of the other team slipping out and using their talks as a chip in another deal. As one team exec noted, "Often you are nervous talking because you don't know for sure what the other side has going on. We all get used at on point or another."

So a few rumours for you this morning with more possibly to come today as I continue to chase the players I spoke about yesterday.

First the Predators are looking to make a deal for a forward and the Flames are looking to bolster in other areas..I am hearing a rumour of a deal that would send Pekka Rinee, Greg deVries and Radulov's rights to Calgary for Matthew Lombardi, James Vandermeer and a pick. This could be a very interesting scenario. Not sure what I think about this deal on either side. I feel there is potential in this deal for both teams, but I personally wouldn't trade Lombardi, unless they know something about Radulov that we don't.

As for Forsberg. It didn't even take a week for this...

We have heard that Forsberg is coming back in all likelihood to Colorado, but when? I went digging with my Forsberg sources and I found that he is looking at late January. I was also told not to count the Flyers or Rangers out of the Forsberg talks at all. Another team to always look to with Foppa is Chicago.

One thing you need to remember about Foppa is he HATES to lose and he doesn't play for the money. He really doesn't. Last year Foppa was absolutely coming back to Philly until the Flyers went into a skid and Colorado was playing better. I could see the opposite happening this year.

No way in hell should they trade Lombo!!!

Lombardi is playing great, but if you knew Radulov was coming back and agreed with the trade it would be hard not to take it. The guys a rare offensive talent. Its just too bad his head isnt screwed on right.
Martin Gerber, Pronger

There was an article in yesterday's Calgary Sun that Sutter is interested in getting Martin Gerber to backup Kipper. Apparently he wants to claim him off re-entry waivers (to only pay half the salary) so he would only be a cap hit of 750K.

According to Hockey Central on January 26th, 2009 the Ducks are visiting the possibility of moving Pronger. Being in 8th position they are considering dumping Pronger to go younger. All I have to say is that I've been hearing rumours and I really don't like a Pronger deal.
Doug Weight and Martin Gelinas

The Flames seem to be looking at Doug Weight and Martin Gelinas is attempting an NHL comeback and is interseted in the Flames.

Im hearing alot of rumours about Sutter looking into dealing for Jason Arrnot, in return the Peds would get either Matt Keatley or Leland Irving. Arrnot would be a great addition to the depth scoring and it's never a bad idea to aquire a veteran player who always playes great against your team.

The other rumouris that the Flames will open next season in Helsinki Finland with two games against the Sharks.
Reasoner, Jason Spezza, Ray Emery, Manny Legace, Staal

This time of year makes me sick, some of the romours I'm hearing. From now on if it doesn't come from the Fan 960 or TSN it's bull****.
Trade: Leopold

2nd pick and a prospect nicholat
Trade: Olli Jokinen

Done deal!

Calgary is now a MONSTER!

DONE?!?! It's a good trade for both sides, I heard how Reinprect preached good things about Lombardi to management. The Flames lost 2 good players but now theyve got an incredible depth at Center compleating possible the best 1st line in the league. I'm really gonna miss Prust, he's got some serious poitential. This trade probably wouldn't have been possible if not for Calgarys depth.

Man i cant wait to see:
Iginla-Jokinen-Cammilleri

Man I've got goosebumps.
They really didn't loose much in getting Leapold back. I'm really surprised this could be one of Sutters biggest steals.

They've got some great depth in all areas right now including in the AHL, I'm really surprised how Sutter's inproved Quad City's system this year.
Son of a bitch. God damn Flames.....
I hear it came down Jokinen either getting traded to Calgary or the Oilers.

Oilers decided to stand pat with their power house of a squad. Pretty sure our eyes are on the cup this year.

Either that, or the Oilers have 8-10th place team that wont accomplish anything this year, and wont get a high draft pick either.

Just great. What an amazing year to be an Oilers fan.

That's quite the contrast to what the Oilers were boasting about at the start of the season...

Its a little disheartening that the big most exciting thing for the Oilers now is hopefully seeing Jordan Eberle play next season.

I think we still have a shot at the playoffs, but with Calgary getting even better, its hard to see one of the lower seed teams knocking off one of the top 4 in the West.
