(Sports Network) - The Calgary Flames will try to turn around their poor play on the road this evening, when they begin a three-game swing with a matchup against the Columbus Blue Jackets.

The Flames have 65 points and are first in Northwest Division, but are just 7-12-6 as the visiting club this year.

Calgary went 3-1-0 on its recent four-game homestand but was dealt a loss by Chicago in Tuesday's finale at the Saddledome. Martin Havlat tied the game with two goals in the final two-plus minutes of regulation, then tallied the game-winning goal in the shootout to lead the Blackhawks to an improbable 3-2 victory.

Jeff Friesen and Kristian Huselius scored for the Flames, while Miikka Kiprusoff stopped 28 shots in a losing cause.

Despite the loss, it was a still special night in Calgary. The Flames honored hometown hero and goaltender Mike Vernon, whose number 30 was raised to the rafters in a pre-game ceremony. Vernon is just the second player in team history to be so honored, joining Lanny McDonald (1981-89), whose No. 9 was retired in 1990.

Huselius is currently riding a 13-game point streak and has amassed 19 points (9 goals, 10 assists) during the tear.
