Oh man.. This goes WAY beyond that. Remember the Flames initially traded a 1st rounder to L.A. to get Cammelleri. He goes on to have a great year and they make the Lombardi and a 1st deal for Jokinen at that point. However since Joke-again's salary is too high they elect to let Cammelleri walk away for nothing. So what they have given up is..

2 first round picks
Lombardi
Cammelleri
Phaneuf

and they have .. Stajan
Hagman
Kotalik
White

To show for it. Did they not put kotalik on waivers recently? and they have yet to resign White. Yes Keep the Sutters in charge Calgary. We in Vancouver are enjoying it.

Eat what words? the factual account of the poor management decisions? You think you are better off with the same people that put you into the mess in the first place?
I don't think we are better off but I don't think we will miss the playoffs again!!! If we don't pass 1st round I do think Jay Feaster will end up GM in the end.

They'll probably do what they have for most of the last number of years: hang around the bubble. If it goes well for them, and one of the teams that finished above them in 2010 has a bad year, they can squeak in.

I still think their most important players are on the wrong side of the 30 for them to improve, but they could possibly finish with around 95ish points, which might edge them in.

well TSN is reporting that the Flames are hanging their hopes on Backlund, saying he should be the top centre

As a Flames fan, I want to thank Sutter for the good he's done, but he's done just as many negative actions for the club in the process.

The team is a little bit different now after the Phaneuf trade, and Tanguay had a good year last year, so it's not impossible that the returning face makes a new mark. But honestly, even as a fan, I'm going to admit that every team runs completely dry every once in a while. Hell, even the Wings had their rough patch before hitting draft gold two decades ago. It looks like that's where the Flames are headed. I think Kipper is 34 this year, and Iginla turned 33 a little over a month ago, so I'm expecting to see a completely overhauled team in the next 4 years or so.

Overhauled not necessarily meaning better, mind you.

The new staff (Irving, Backlund, Nemisz, etcetera) will hopefully be in full swing and keep them from a few last place finishes, but this is likely the beginning of a downhill slope for the Flames.
