Left-winger Eric Wellwood is the Windsor Spitfires Player of the Week as selected by the Spitfires coaching staff for the week ending Sunday, January 25th. Wellwood scored three goals and registered two assists for a total of five points to go along with a plus-4 plus/minus rating in three games, as he led the Spitfires to a perfect 3-0 record and helped extend the team's winning streak to 13 games.

Wellwood recorded one assist in Windsor's 5-4 overtime win versus the Sudbury Wolves on January 22nd. The next night, he scored one goal and added an assist as the Spitfires defeated the Guelph Storm 5-2 and he finished the week with two goals in Windsor's 6-3 win over the Plymouth Whalers on January 25th.

The 18 year-old native of Oldcastle, ON has 8 goals and 7 assists for 15 points in 41 games played this season. Wellwood is eligible for the 2009 NHL Entry Draft.

Windsor's next home game is Thursday, January 29th against the Mississauga St. Michael's Majors, presented courtesy of AM800 CKLW. Game time is set for 7:05 p.m. at the WFCU Centre.
