The Edmonton Oil Kings Hockey Club, in conjunction with Literacy for Life and exclusive sponsor Schlumberger, are proud to launch this year's Oil Kings hockey-based novel, Oil King Glory. This marks the first book release ever for the Edmonton owned franchise.

Please join Coronation School students and staff as they enjoy a great presentation by author Sigmund Brouwer and all the visiting hockey players. Students and guests will have the opportunity to receive copies of Oil King Glory signed by there favorite Oil King players.

"To have author Sigmund Brouwer write a story involving the Edmonton Oil Kings is an honour and a privilege," says the Oil Kings Nick Wilson. "It's even more gratifying to know that as an organization, we are delighted to be involved in a campaign that promotes literacy and the value of a good education amongst young people. We thank Schlumberger for their support on this project."

This positive initiative has had such mass appeal that other school districts have requested access to the program outside the city of Edmonton. More than 25,000 students will be impacted by this initiative this year. This is the first novel in an eventual Oil Kings series, written to encourage students of the importance of securing a good education and foundation in reading. Copies of this novel will be made available to thousands of students in Edmonton and area schools compliments of this partnership as well as to fans at the game on Saturday January 31.

Also in attendance will be Vice President of Business Operations, Nick Wilson, Edmonton Oil King Hockey players Tomas Vincour, Drew Nichol, Brent Raedeke, and Torrie Jung, Schlumberger President, Derek Normore, and Read On! Literacy Chairman John McMullen.
