(Sports Network) - As Anaheim gets ready to open up a home-and-home series with San Jose, the club is also in the process of giving an extended welcome back to goaltender Jean-Sebastien Giguere.
Giguere missed 11 games, most of them coming in January, before returning right after the All-Star break. His return led to a pair of wins off the bat, as the Ducks snapped a four-game losing streak by besting Dallas on January 28 before downing Phoenix three days later.
Sparked by Giguere's return, the Ducks outscored Dallas and Phoenix a combined 6-2 and Giguere totaled 54 saves. He then made 17 saves against Nashville on Saturday, but Anaheim lost 3-0.
"I felt pretty good," Giguere said after his first game back against Dallas. "I was seeing the puck real well, and as the game went on, my legs felt better and better. It was fun to be back."
The numbers didn't lie in Giguere's absence. The Ducks lost nine of the 11 games he missed and finished January with a 4-5-2 mark for the month.
The Montreal native is third in the league in both goals-against average (2.13) and save percentage (.924), is tied for fifth in the NHL in shutouts (four) and is sixth overall in wins (26).
