(Sports Network) - The Anaheim Ducks will try to extend their winning streak to a season-high five games this afternoon, when they visit the rival Los Angeles Kings at the Staples Center for the opener of a home-and-home series.

The Ducks, who currently lead the NHL with 44 points, haven't earned five straight victories since posting a six-game winning streak from March 17-25 of last season. Anaheim also won four in a row from October 18-25 of this season.

Anaheim's most recent triumph came Thursday evening in Vancouver. Ryan Getzlaf's power-play goal in the third period lifted the Ducks to a 2-1 victory over the Canucks at GM Place.

Andy McDonald also scored for Anaheim, which was playing the middle test of a three-game road trip. The Ducks, who are 7-1-2 as the visiting team this year, will host the Kings in the return game of this home-and-home.

Jean-Sebastien Giguere made 23 saves in Thursday's victory.

The Kings, meanwhile, are coming off a loss to the Phoenix Coyotes on Thursday. Michael Zigomanis tallied two goals and an assist to help the Coyotes earn a 7-4 victory at Arena.
