WINNIPEG (CP) - Devan Dubnyk wasn't suppose to get the call Sunday night, but he made his first pro start a memorable one.
The 20-year-old netminder made 27 savers to backstop the Edmonton Oilers to a 5-0 victory over the Phoenix Coyotes in the teams' first NHL pre-season game.
Edmonton centre Jarret Stoll scored a pair of goals, Alexei Mikhnov had a goal and two assists and Stephane Goulet and Brad Winchester rounded out the scoring. Marty Reasoner added three assists.
Dubnyk , who played the last four seasons with the WHL Kamloops Blazers, got the nod over Jeff Drouin-Deslauriers, who was suffering from the flu.
"I was excited," said Dubnyk , who came off the bench in two Oilers games last season.
