As NHL teams embrace the second half of the season, a growing sense of urgency comes with the territory.
The Ottawa Senators failed in their bid to claim Petr Nedved off waivers, so John Muckler didn't waste any more time in acquiring centre Mike Comrie from Phoenix in a trade that has been in the making for some time.
Nedved resurfaced in Edmonton, where he seemed to be a fit in the tail end of the 2003-2004 season. Still, Nedved is a curious add for an Oilers team believed to stock-piling in the event a highly coveted puck moving defenceman becomes available. Since Bobby Orr is no longer an option, speculation ranges from Eric Brewer to Wade Redden.
Change appears imminent in Tampa Bay where the Lightning are eager to shake-up a lineup that is stumbling along two games below 500.
Although not caught on camera, multiple sources confirm head coach John Tortorella and veteran forward Vaclav Prospal engaged in a heated exchange on the bench during the Lightning's 5-2 loss in Montreal. The two discussed the disagreement between periods and finished the game without further incident.
