Brian Gionta and Travis Zajac had goals for New Jersey, which has dropped four straight games since beginning the swing with a win in Toronto. Patrik Elias donated two assists in defeat, and Martin Brodeur finished with 26 saves.
The Devils hope a return home does the trick, as they are 8-1-1 at the Meadowlands this season. They will visit Philadelphia on Saturday.
Pittsburgh, meanwhile, ended a three-game losing slide with Tuesday's 3-2 win over the visiting Islanders. Sidney Crosby returned to the lineup for the Penguins and had two assists to lead the effort.
