(Sports Network) - The New Jersey Devils seek their third consecutive win tonight when they welcome the struggling Chicago Blackhawks to Continental Airlines Arena.

The Devils have won four of their last five overall. On Tuesday, John Madden's goal in the sixth round of the shootout gave them a 3-2 win over the visiting Carolina Hurricanes.

Madden was able to be the hero because Jim Dowd tallied with one minute left in the third period to force overtime. Dowd, a journeyman who played for Jersey in the mid-90s, netted his first goal after signing with the team last week.

Travis Zajac also tallied in regulation, while Martin Brodeur finished with 26 saves.

Devils sophomore forward Zach Parise posted an assist and extended his point streak to five games (3g, 3a).

New Jersey, which hasn't won three straight games this season, will host Florida on Saturday.

Chicago, meanwhile, has lost its last seven games. On Thursday the Hawks dropped a 2-1 decision to red-hot Detroit, as Robert Lang scored the game- winning goal 6:19 into the third period.
