(Sports Network) - The New Jersey Devils hope to begin an extended stay on the west coast with another victory when they take the ice tonight against the Phoenix Coyotes at Arena.

The red-hot Devils began their current five-game road trip Saturday in Toronto, where New Jersey came through with a 2-1 victory behind another stellar outing from Martin Brodeur. The All-Star goaltender stopped 33-of-34 shots to lead his club to its sixth victory in seven games.

Jamie Langenbrunner and Patrik Elias each netted goals for New Jersey, which currently stands in a first-place tie with the rival New York Rangers in the Atlantic Division.

The Devils should be even more formidable when Scott Gomez returns to the lineup. The high-scoring center has been sidelined since November 2 with a groin injury but is expected to be available during the road trip, perhaps as early as tonight.

New Jersey will travel to Anaheim on Friday before concluding the swing with games against San Jose and Los Angeles.

The Coyotes sit at the bottom of the Pacific Division and have dropped two in a row and four of their last six contests. Phoenix's latest setback came Sunday in Anaheim, where Chris Kunitz recorded his first career hat trick to propel the Ducks to a 6-4 win.
