(Sports Network) - There are going to be hiccups along the grind of an NHL season, and the Devils had one of them a few weeks back when they dropped three consecutive games to Nashville, Ottawa and Pittsburgh.

However, since then the team has gotten things back on track, taking three out of four. The victories over that span have come against the Panthers, Blue Jackets and Canadiens, while the loss was at the hands of the Islanders.

On Saturday, Martin Brodeur stopped 33 shots and withstood a late onslaught by the Canadiens, as New Jersey held on to beat Montreal, 2-1, at the Bell Centre in Claude Julien's return.

Julien, now the head coach for the Devils, previously coached the Canadiens, leading them to an overall 72-71-16 mark. He also guided the team to the second round of the playoffs in 2004.

Jay Pandolfo and Brian Rafalski tallied the goals for the Devils, who rebounded from Thursday's 5-2 loss to the Islanders.
