Martin Brodeur helped the Devils storm back from a 3-1 series deficit to beat the Flyers in the 2000 Eastern Conference Finals, but the goalie said yesterday there's no recipe how to do it.

"It's all about action when the puck drops," Brodeur said during a conference call on the team's off day. The Devils return to practice today in preparation for tomorrow's Game 5 of their conference semifinal against Ottawa at the Meadowlands. "Nobody expects us to come back, so we shouldn't feel any pressure."

But the fact remains the Devils entered this series as the second seed in the conference and with one of the best goalies, particularly in the postseason, in the history of the NHL.

Brodeur and his teammates haven't been in top form against the Senators. After a 3-2 loss in Game 4, in which he appeared shaky and, as he has at times during these playoffs, surrendered some softer goals than usual, Brodeur took what appeared to be a swipe at Ottawa goalie Ray Emery.
