COLUMBUS, Ohio (Ticker) -- The Columbus Blue Jackets gave their fans something to cheer about early in the third period. Pavel Datsyuk and the Detroit Red Wings silenced them late in the session.

Datsyuk recorded his first career hat trick, scoring three consecutive goals in the final 10 minutes of the third to lift the Red Wings to a 7-4 victory over the Blue Jackets.

Meeting Columbus for the third time in 11 days, Detroit stormed out to a 3-0 lead on a pair of first-period goals by Daniel Cleary and a tally by Henrik Zetterberg midway through the second.

But the Red Wings were unable to keep hold of the seemingly comfortable advantage as the Blue Jackets rallied for four straight goals, including power-play tallies two minutes apart early in the third by Dan Fritsche and defenceman Adam Foote.
